Support Choices staff share their highlights

Support Choices is a free community based independent service helping people organise social care and Self-Directed Support across Perth and Kinross. It aims to give people and unpaid carers the information they need to make informed choices.

This month we have been talking to Support Choices staff gathering their experiences and views about the work they do and the difference it makes to people’s lives.

This blog is part of a series sharing the some of the stories and experiences from people, Support Choices staff and partner organisations. It is part of an evaluation to assess the impact of Support Choices for people and unpaid carers. The previous 3 blogs can be found here: https://www.supportchoices.co.uk/blog

A key highlight for staff is around the people they meet and in helping to make things better for people.  These are some of the comments from Support Choices staff about the highlights in their work.

Information and support is crucial for people to make informed choices about social care options and not to just accept what they are given.

Covid-19 and the rules around people seeing people have stopped staff working in the way they would like.

Supporting people before they have assessments for social care and the way Self- directed support is implemented also cause frustrations.
