OUR HISTORY
Originally established as a project delivered by 'Outside the Box', Support Choices become an independent registered charity in 2022.
Our core funding is from the Scottish Government's Support in the Right Direction' Fund which was established across Scotland to support the implementation of Self-directed Support (SDS). We also are always looking for additional funding to help us deliver our service as quickly as possible. Our referrals grow each year and in 2024 we responded to over 5 new referrals every week. People of all ages and their families are looking for help to understand and navigate the process to getting their care needs met and to stay in control of their own lives.
Our focus continues to be on the delivery of free, independent advice and support about accessing Social Care in particular how to use SDS. As a small charity we don't get distracted by other projects or activities beyond our core objectives:

To support people to access the person-centred and independent support that is right for them
To promote a community support approach, inclusive of formal and informal supports, to all citizens

We are a small team of 5 people, now working out of a small office base in Dunkeld but covering the whole of Perth and Kinross.

Our small team of Community Workers are all trained in Community Brokerage which means that they will explore and help people to find a whole range of resources including formally funded services and informal community resources.
